Pop Codex is an ongoing archival project cataloging and recording music videos as typologies of pop architectures. Pop artifacts of myth and material are transmitted through pop media infrastructures for global access across dazzling and dizzying popscapes. The pop body glistenes within city simulations, dreamhouses, and arid America deserta as architecture sublimates into pop utopia; pop mutations expand into architectural extremes. Through archive, essay, and exhibition, Pop Codex explores music videos as edifice and evidence, operating as a collaborative agent to examine how music videos construct and reveal spatialized forms of cultural fantasy.
Pop Codex is directed in collaboration with Samiha Meem
